Klaus-Peter »Matze« Matziol was born in Hanover in
September 1950. »Matze« learned to play the guitar as a boy scout.
In his early days, he played guitar in various bands. Among others, he played with
Jürgen Rosenthal
for Uli Roth's band »Morrison Gulf«, in the early 70s, before Uli became
the »Scorpions'« guitarist. »Matze« then switched to playing
bass and joined »Boorturm«. He hooked up with ELOY in 1976, where his
distinctive bass playing left a clear mark. »Matze« was part of the most
successful ELOY line-up until the breakup in 1984. He released a solo album in 1983
(KPM, »Run For Cover«), and was involved in the ballet »Faust«
(»Shade«) in the late 80s. He also cooperated with
Jürgen Rosenthal
releases »Echo Park« (1988) and »Pretty Lies« (1995). In 1992,
Klaus-Peter Matziol featured as guest musician for some songs on ELOY's
»Destination«
album, and was involved with the Chronicles project (1993/94). In 1994, he rejoined
the band as a full member for the production of
»The Tides Return Forever«.
He is still aboard today and is working with the management at one of Germany's
leading concert promoters.
